Beyond A Home: Elyse Janzen

Beyond a Home is a collection of works by Elyse Janzen revolving around the question of ‘what makes Oklahoma home?’. There are endless answers, but these pieces focus on the little things that make the state so special. From sunsets in the vast sky, rolling hills, and powerful thunderstorms, to silly little cows, Oklahoma is far beyond just a home. Janzen explores this question through a series of works inspired by her experience leaving the state to pursue her dream of going to art school. Her works explore how it’s easy to miss your close one but difficult to recognize the small things that make Oklahoma, Oklahoma.

The Seen by Nick Blocha

“The Seen” explores calm and wildly unique moments, like walking through a waking dream, and the absurdity of that reality. The major three aspects of this series; the image, the action, and the clarity; are all only a fraction of what exists. We will never truly know the full story, no matter how much we think we do. This series encapsulates movement and stillness all in one. There is tension and relaxation. These paintings are a snapshot into things that perhaps we shouldn’t be seeing, yet here we are, comfortable in that uncomfortable place.

RED Like Roses by Kevin Carbajal

RED Like Roses by Kevin Carbajal

"RED like Roses" depicts various scenes in Oklahoma. Artist Kevin Carbajal has created acrylic paintings that capture what one can discover in this state - whether vibrant cityscapes, tall grass, distant acres of fields or the drastic weather changes.

These pieces will visualize the rhythm and movements by using thin brush strokes to create hair-like grass, wispy clouds in the distance, and architectural buildings with peaks through lit windows, driving past by in the night. This project will appeal to those who want to explore the settings that can guide them throughout the journey of this artistic reality.

My Oklahoma Landscape by Patti Morgan

Patti Morgan’s oil paintings reflect a decades-long relationship with the landscapes of western Oklahoma. The region’s vast skies, rolling fields, and winding roads are captured with a blending of realism and expressionism. Central in this exhibition is a series of fifteen small wood panelette paintings, each a fragment of a larger story. Along with the panelettes are two plein air works on canvas, an abstract diptych on paper, and several works composed from years of photographic archives.

The My Oklahoma Landscape exhibition invites viewers to pause, reflect, and experience the spaciousness of Western Oklahoma.
