Beyond a Home

Elyse Janzen

Beyond a Home is a collection of works by Elyse Janzen revolving around the question of ‘what makes Oklahoma home?’. There are endless answers, but these pieces focus on the little things that make the state so special. From sunsets in the vast sky, rolling hills, and powerful thunderstorms, to silly little cows, Oklahoma is far beyond just a home. Janzen explores this question through a series of works inspired by her experience leaving the state to pursue her dream of going to art school. Her works explore how it’s easy to miss your close one but difficult to recognize the small things that make Oklahoma, Oklahoma.
