DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

POSITION OVERVIEW

Position Type: FULL-TIME

The Development Associate oversees all fundraising campaigns for the Paseo Arts Association for all events and programs, including annual juried shows, FEAST, the Paseo Arts Awards and the Paseo Arts Festival. The position manages all grant writing including new grant applications and existing grant mid-term and final reports. The position also manages community engagement and development operations with the purpose to identify new events sponsors and annual donors while maintaining existing donor and sponsor relations for the Paseo Arts Association.

This position reports to and closely collaborates with the Executive Director, ensuring the continued success in fundraising efforts. The Development Associate also is expected to participate as a key staff member in all Paseo Arts Association activities and networking opportunities in the community. The position is full-time and year-round with some required evening and weekend activities. This position must love the arts! Demonstrated interest in the arts or nonprofit cultural organizations with enthusiasm for the PAA’s mission is vital.

Key Responsibilities:

Development & Fundraising

• Collaborate with the Executive Director, board of directors and staff to develop donor-focused communications, sponsorship recognition, impact stories and community engagement initiatives

• Identify and build relationships with new donors, securing gifts to support the PAA

• Develop and implement strategies for planned giving and secure bequests from donors

• Cultivate new donor relationships with individuals, businesses and other funding organizations

• Identify new sponsorships for the Paseo Arts Festival

• Assist the Executive Director in maintaining current donor and sponsor relationships by initiating and organizing partner meetings and phone calls as required

• Work collaboratively alongside board Development committee and Community Outreach committee

Development Operations

• Manage all solicitation and communications to donors and sponsors for the below:

-Annual juried shows, FEAST, Paseo Arts Awards, Paseo Arts Festival

• Manage all in-kind donation requests for vendors and venues for all events, including city contracts for the Paseo Arts Festival.

• Collaborate with committee and staff to plan fundraising activities for Paseo Arts Awards

• Collaborate with Marketing and Membership Coordinator on annual PAA membership

• Coordinate printing, signing and distribution of letters for all fundraising campaigns

• Work with staff to ensure proper recognition for all donors and sponsors

• Work with staff to create all donor and sponsor campaign materials

• Monitor donor and sponsor analytics through database platform

Grant Writing

• Research new grant opportunities and meet with prospective grant funders alongside the Executive Director

• Write annual grant applications and mid-term and final grant reports for all funders

• Maintain relationships with current grant funders alongside the Executive Director

The candidate must be:

• A true team player, open to collaboration with and support of fellow team members during all programs and events.

• Comfortable with customer service duties and a shared and open office space

• Be positive, pro-active and able to manage multiple priorities, often simultaneously

Required Qualifications:

▪ Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, communications, business, nonprofit management,

or related degree with two years of fundraising experience.

▪ Love for the arts! Demonstrated interest in the arts or nonprofit cultural organizations with

enthusiasm for the PAA’s mission

Preferred Skills:

▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

▪ Proficiency using an iMac (or willingness to learn)

▪ Proficiency or familiarity with Little Green Light (Donor CRM platform) (or willingness to learn)

▪ Collaborative mindset, demonstrable track record of successfully working as part of productive teams

▪ Aptitude in learning new technology quickly

▪ Demonstrated ability to take initiative, think creatively and problem-solve

▪ Equally adept at successfully working as part of a team as well as independently

▪ Excellent verbal and written communications

▪ Excellent time management skills

▪ Excellent customer service

Physical Requirements:

▪ Ability to lift 50 lbs.

▪ Ability to assist with various event set up year-round and manual labor during a three-day outdoor festival

▪ Ability to sit and work at a computer majority of the day

▪ Ability to drive with reliable transportation

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

• 40 hours a week, between 9am and 5pm, in-person, remote option not available.

• Some nights and weekends required for events including the first Friday of every month. Must work all three days of the Paseo Arts Festival, Memorial Day weekend.

• Commensurate with experience $50,000-$55,000 salary range
