The Black Prairie is an exhibition that highlights the presence of Black Oklahomans and their influence in the South-Central Region of the United States. From the historic rodeos in Boley, to the lively streets of Deep Deuce in Oklahoma City, generations of Black Oklahomans have established a unique culture that is often under-appreciated. This exhibition is created from the artist’s perspective — connecting history, culture, and his own personal experiences. This body of work is a collection of people, places, and events that serve as only a glimpse of the major impact of Black Americans that made Oklahoma their home.
