“Port in a Storm” is my rendition of Undine, a legendary water spirit who emerges from the sea to kill her land-bound cheating husband. I was inspired by Chauncey Bradley Ives’ sympathetic sculpture of Undine.  I imagined her filled with rage and racked with sadness, finding strength to face the chaos of her relationship because of the respite she’s able to find in her natural habitat in the sea. I feel the same when I paint.  I dive deep within myself where I can methodically weigh options in the quiet, under the raging surf above."
