“Nostalgia" represents a longing for past feelings or memories. In this painting I aimed to capture the sense of that bittersweet feeling of reminiscing on the past. The street sign illuminated by the light on a street corner is something that can connect with many people across many different generations, and can represent multiple points in somebody's life. I was inspired to create this painting when I was driving home in the middle of the night after spending time with my friends, and came across this street corner. I had a sudden wave of nostalgia hit me, and I knew I had to capture it. I often think about how the present moment slips quietly into memory, long before we realize our current life is something we’ll one day look back on. This painting to me serves as a reminder to be more present in the moment so I can take in the joy now, instead of only looking back at it with nostalgia."
