"This year, I was thrilled to finally see the mass migration of Monarchs as they came in to roost near Frederick, Oklahoma. The area is remote, and the night I drove down there was still. I could hear them whisper overhead. Thousands of papery wings reminded me of my wife's long eyelashes. I set my camera to capture 1/60th of a second along their journey to Mexico. Then I drove home and told her that she'd be riding back with me at 5 a.m. to watch the Monarchs wake up with the sun."
