Kent Frates
Kent Frates is an Oklahoma City attorney, historian, and author. He served in the Oklahoma Legislature from 1970-1978. Frates is the editor and publisher of the political and literary newsletter Common Sense. He authored the poetry book The Captain and His Crew, the novel Don’t Never Shoot Short, and four non-fiction works: Oklahoma Hiking Trails, Oklahoma Courthouse Legends, and Oklahoma’s Most Notorious Cases. Additionally, he contributed to both This Land and Oklahoma Today magazine. Frates wrote the script for the independent film Cockfight (2004), which starred Wilford Brimley, Rex Linn, and Gaylord Sartain.
Oklahoma’s Most Notorious Cases won the national Benjamin Franklin Award for political and current events in 2015.
