Copper Dust Jewelry
Melissa Lowry
“I’ve always been creative - I’ve been making things since I was a kid. Jewelry and clothes have been my favorite things to make but I also love painting, fiber arts and experimenting with new mediums. I graduated from UCO with a degree in Art in 2000 and have continued to learn new ways to make art and jewelry since.
When making jewelry, I use metalsmithing techniques and electroforming. I include materials such as beads, stones, leaves, feathers, leather or paper in my pieces. Each item is handmade by me so every piece is different. Even pieces in a series are all unique. All metal used is sterling silver, pure copper, yellow brass or jewelers bronze and I make most of my findings by hand as well. All the feathers, leaves and twigs used were found in my backyard, after the trees and birds were done with them.”
