The March Show: Resilience - Artist Statements
Tobi Coleman, The Beat Goes On Clay, Metal, wood and acrylic, $175
A heart that has endured many aches and breaks but is mended over and over is resilient. Somehow, in some way, we can mend our hearts and love again. All the breaks we endure seem to make our heart stronger. Clay was used for the heart because clay can be broken and mended. Metal repairs to the heart reflect where the broken parts are reinforced and stronger. It is placed inside an old drawer, symbolizing how we tuck our hearts away to help them mend.
