In "Cat Kali Crusader," many traditional religious images are juxtaposed to create a new story, or rather an old story with an updated, universalized spirituality. The protagonist, Cat Kali, is a cat with Kali's many arms, outfitted as a crusader. She oversees a small group of cats eating cat food, while many hungry baboons look on. In the background, we can see Hindu, Shinto, Christian and Muslim holy buildings, side by side, suggesting a universal tolerance of various spiritual leanings.
